Ms. Constance H. Wang, Representative of the Taiwanese Representative Office in Lithuania, and Mr. Paulius Lukauskas, Representative of the Lithuanian Trade Representative Office, jointly signed on 30 December 2024 in Vilnius, Lithuania, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the Field of Innovation in Financial Services. The MoU includes provisions for the exchange of information on emerging market trends and development, as well as on regulatory issues regarding financial innovation, and the promotion of cooperation among industry representatives. It also fosters cooperation on issues of mutual concern.
The Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) continues to promote Fintech cooperation with competent authorities abroad. Previously, the FSC has signed agreements with authorities in charge of Fintech in Poland, the US (Arizona State, New York State, New Jersy State), France, Canada, and Israel. Moreover, to share our experience and learn from others, the FSC has been a member of the Global Financial Innovation Network (GFIN) since May 2019. GFIN is a network of over 90 international organizations and supervisory authorities dedicated to sharing experiences and collaborating on financial innovation internationally.
In recent years, Taiwan and Lithuania have maintained close collaborative exchanges. In July 2024, the FSC granted approval to the Bank of Taiwan to file an application with the competent authority of Lithuania for the establishment of its Lithuania Representative Office, deepening financial collaboration between both sides. The signing of this MoU will further enhance cooperation and the exchange of experiences and information on various issues related to financial services innovation. The FSC will continue to network and promote Fintech cooperation with competent financial authorities through both bilateral and multilateral channels.
