To promote the alliance and cooperation of elites in the industry chain and welcome the opportunities of intelligent technology around the globe, the Intelligent Electronics Institute of the Industrial Development Bureau held an opening ceremony for the 2017 Innovative Leaders Training Program, officially launching it on September 8 at the Taipei International Convention Center. In order to respond to the developmental trends of intelligent manufacturing and artificial intelligence (AI), the Institute invited three guest speakers: Chairman Zhi-yang Zhu of the Fair Friend Group, Deputy Chairman Li-meng Chiu of NVIDIA, and Deputy General Manager Zhong-yan Xu of IBM to share their viewpoints and forward-looking strategies. With their expertise as leaders of international enterprises, they hope to guide industry supervisors to create new growth patterns and advantages.
Industrial Development Bureau Deputy Director Cheng-chin Lu indicated that Taiwan’s government is actively promoting its “five plus two” innovative industries program and the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program to help promote the upgrading and transformation of industries. The seminar project has gathered important enterprises domestically and internationally in the hopes of encouraging the alliance and cooperation of industries, steering the development of intelligent technology, and creating opportunities for industries to transform. Director General Wen-ling Wu of the Institute of Information Industry stated in her speech that, since 2010, with over a hundred CEOs from domestic and international enterprises giving lectures, as well as nearly 300 top managers from TSMC, MediaTek, Himax, Realtek, Actron, Sunplus, SPIL, many others are providing support and feedback.
This year’s program was held in both Taipei and Kaohsiung. The Taipei venue saw discussions on the current development of AI and smart car technology in terms of future opportunities and challenges from diverse aspects. High-level supervisors from Texas Instruments (TI), Techman Robot, LIPS Corporation, Cyberon Corporation, Noodoe Corporation, ThroughTek Co., Ltd. and Otobrite, MIC analysts, Professors Winston Hsu and Li-chen Fu of National Taiwan University, and numerous industry-university cooperative research experts were invited to share the developmental trend of industries and actual application cases. For its part, the Kaohsiung venue focused on the issue of intelligent manufacturing. Leaders of TDK and Chyi Ding Technologies Co., Ltd., professors Chen-fu Chien of National Tsing Hua University and Tzung-pei Hong of the National University of Kaohsiung, MIC director Chun-hui Hong and other industry-university cooperative research experts were invited to attend the seminar to discuss how the manufacturing industry accelerates industrial reformation so as to achieve intelligent manufacturing.
The Institute expects that this seminar project, which probes into the innovative applications and strategies of intelligent technology and has inspired thought from enterprises, will help Taiwan obtain advantages and opportunities in the next intelligent revolution, and, with our global competitiveness in the hardware industry, create a new high point for industries.
