Description On 18 March, Air Liquide Far Eastern Ltd. (ALFE) held a grand opening to mark the launch of operations at an ultra-high purity low-carbon hydrogen electrolyzer plant in Tainan Technology Industrial Park. This facility is Air Liquide's first ultra-high purity hydrogen plant in the world. ALFE President Olivier Blachier presided over the ceremony, which was attended by such notables as Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che, InvesTaiwan Chief Operating Officer (COO) Chen Ming-chu, French Office in Taipei Director Jean-Francois Casabonne-Masonnave, and Far Eastern Group Vice Chairman Peter Hsu.
Taiwan is a global high-tech hub, and a formidable high-tech industrial cluster has taken shape in Tainan. This electrolyzer plant is just one part of plans by ALFE to invest a total of some NT$7 billion to build ultra-high purity hydrogen and oxygen plants in Tainan and Hsinchu. At the new production facility in the Tainan Technology Industrial Park, which is located on ALFE's site of 3,300 square meters, the company will use advanced processes to manufacture high-purity industrial gases for high-tech manufacturers in the high-tech industrial parks of southern Taiwan.
ALFE, a joint venture established in 1987 by the Air Liquide Group and Taiwan Far Eastern Group, is the number one industrial investment among French companies in Taiwan. The Air Liquide Group is active in 80 countries, and in Taiwan it produces high-purity gases and advanced electronics materials at locations in Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung.
InvesTaiwan's mission is to attract foreign companies to invest in Taiwan, and to accelerate the completion of investment projects here. It will continue stepping up its efforts to bring in foreign investors, and intends to further boost the momentum of domestic investment, as well.
