Since the global economy is still adversely affected by the pandemic and countries continue to impose trade and export barriers, uncertainty is still high. On the 24th, the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) once again worked with the International Trade Centre (ITC) to hold the "Market Access Map" and "Rules of Origin Facilitator," two major database briefing sessions, at the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC) to help businesses obtain trade information and understand market access rules. Over 840 people attended the event, including online viewers, which shows that this event was highly valued and enthusiastically received by businesses.
Deputy Director General Liu Chih-hung of the BOFT stated that the role of the BOFT includes participating in international economic and trade organizations and striving for trade opportunities for Taiwan. The database functions introduced in this webinar, including provisions for import tariffs and rules of origin, as well as regulatory requirements, such as product labeling, are very important information for businesses to participate in international trade. Therefore, in addition to the Global Trade Helpdesk (GTH) webinar in 2020 and this webinar, the BOFT will continue to organize related activities based on the opinions of industries, and provide more digital resources to assist industries in promoting Taiwan's trade development.
In response to the impacts of the pandemic, the BOFT also publicized the contents of this briefing in a live online broadcast to enable more businesses at home and abroad to analyze export markets and industrial advantages. For more details, please check the live online broadcast on the BOFT's Facebook fan page.
