According to the statistics, 4,118 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$11,195,975,000 were approved from January to December 2019. This indicates a increase of 13.73% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 2.14% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2018.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 143 cases were approved with an amount of US$97,180,000 from January to December 2019. This indicates a increase of 1.42% in the number of cases, but a decrease of 57.97% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2018. From July 2009 to December 2019, 1,371 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,284,971,000.
In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 670 projects were registered from January to December 2019 with a total amount of US$6,851,155,000, indicating an increase of 5.02% in the number of cases, but a decrease of 52.07% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2018.
As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 610 applications have been approved from January to December 2019, indicating a decrease of 16% compared to the same period of 2018. The approved investment amount is US$4,173,090,000, 51% less than the same period in 2018.
