According to the statistics, 416 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$997,634,000 were approved in January 2020. This indicates a increase of 41.98% in the number of cases, and a increase of 192.76% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2019.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 6 cases were approved with an amount of US$2,295,000 in January 2020. This indicates a decrease of 40% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 27.19% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2019. From July 2009 to January 2020, 1,377 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,287,266,000.
In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 40 projects were registered in January 2020 with a total amount of US$763,652,000, indicating an decrease of 41.18% in the number of cases, but a increase of 13.60% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2019.
As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 42 applications have been approved in January 2020, indicating a decrease of 20.75% compared to the same period of 2019. The approved investment amount is US$537,722,000, 40.54% more than the same period in 2019.
