According to the statistics, 632 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$1,468,898,000 were approved in February 2020. This indicates a increase of 13.87% in the number of cases, and a increase of 163.20% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2019.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 16 cases were approved with an amount of US$22,467,000 in February 2020. This indicates a decrease of 11.11% in the number of cases, and a increase of 203.40% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2019. From July 2009 to February 2020, 1,387 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,307,438,000.
In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 82 projects were registered in February 2020 with a total amount of US$1,062,649,000, indicating an decrease of 21.15% in the number of cases, but a decrease of 28.35% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2019.
As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 82 applications have been approved in February 2020, indicating a decrease of 4.65% compared to the same period of 2019. The approved investment amount is US$1,234,616,000, 20.84% more than the same period in 2019.
