According to the statistics, 1,688 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$3,839,227,000 were approved from January to June 2020. This indicates a decrease of 1.75% in the number of cases, and a increase of 9.27% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2019.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 56 cases were approved with an amount of US$49,553,000 from January to June 2020. This indicates a decrease of 9.68% in the number of cases, and a increase of 4.38% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2019. From July 2009 to June 2020, 1,427 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,334,524,000.
In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 266 projects were registered from January to June 2020 with a total amount of US$4,906,267,000, indicating an decrease of 15.02% in the number of cases, but a increase of 37.51% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2019.
As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 245 applications have been approved from January to June 2020, indicating a decrease of 13.12% compared to the same period of 2019. The approved investment amount is US$3,170,068,000, 52.49% more than the same period in 2019.
