According to the statistics, 2,230 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$5,270,282,000 were approved from January to October 2021. This indicates a decrease of 23.13% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 28.25% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2020.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 32 cases were approved with an amount of US$41,303,000 from January to October 2021. This indicates a decrease of 61.45% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 66.68% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2020. From October 2009 to October 2021, 1,493 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,452,585,000.
In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 337 projects were registered from January to October 2021 with a total amount of US$9,422,464,000, indicating an decrease of 23.41% in the number of cases, but a increase of 33.84% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2020.
As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 349 applications have been approved from January to October 2021, indicating a decrease of 9.82% compared to the same period of 2020. The approved investment amount is US$4,301,127,000, 8.60% less than the same period in 2020.
