According to the statistics, 562 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$2,747,121,000 were approved from January to March 2022. This indicates a decrease of 15.36% in the number of cases, but a increase of 125.61% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2021.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 13 cases were approved with an amount of US$6,523,000 from January to March 2022. This indicates a increase of 116.67% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 54.59% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2021. From July 2009 to March 2022, 1,523 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,534,049,000.
In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 148 projects were registered from January to March 2022 with a total amount of US$2,027,611,000, indicating an increase of 62.64% in the number of cases, and a increase of 67.39% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2021.
As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 98 applications have been approved from January to March 2022, indicating a decrease of 10.09% compared to the same period of 2021. The approved investment amount is US$845,769,000, 31.83% more than the same period in 2021.
