According to the statistics, 1,426 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$9,688,328,000 were approved from January to July 2022. This indicates a decrease of 7.04% in the number of cases, but a increase of 201.84% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2021.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 33 cases were approved with an amount of US$17,698,000 from January to July 2022. This indicates a increase of 43.48% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 36.52% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2021. From July 2009 to July 2022, 1,543 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,545,224,000.
In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 312 projects were registered from January to July 2022 with a total amount of US$5,029,504,000, indicating an increase of 38.05% in the number of cases, and a decrease of 33.89% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2021.
As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 216 applications have been approved from January to July 2022, indicating a decrease of 10% compared to the same period of 2021. The approved investment amount is US$2,114,639,000, 0.01% more than the same period in 2021.
