Mos Burger Builds Green Factory in Pingtung to Provide Safe Food and Fulfill its Commitment to Sustainability

InvesTaiwan today (25th) approved additional investments by 3 companies, including Loyal & Birch Co., Ltd. under the Action Plan for Welcoming Overseas Taiwanese Businesses to Return to Invest in Taiwan; An-Shin Food Services Co., Ltd. under the Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by Domestic Corporations; Hui Da Decor Co., Ltd. under the Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by SMEs. At present, the three major programs for investing in Taiwan have attracted over NT$2.0669 trillion in investments from 1,362 companies, and are expected to create 145,782 domestic employment opportunities, in which the Action Plan for Welcoming Overseas Taiwanese Businesses to Return to Invest in Taiwan has attracted approximately NT$1.1782 trillion from 289 Taiwanese businesses and created 86,395 employment opportunities; the Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by Domestic Corporations has attracted approximately NT$470.1 billion in investments from 166 domestic corporations and created 25,479 domestic employment opportunities; the Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by SMEs has attracted approximately NT$418.6 billion in investments from 907 SMEs and created 33,908 domestic employment opportunities; applications of 13 companies are still pending review.
Loyal & Birch Co., Ltd. is a manufacturer of screws for buildings, and its products are mainly exported to America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. The Company is increasing its investment in Taiwan by NT$500 million to build a R&D and production base in North Kaohsiung Industrial Park under its global strategy, and will utilize AI processing technology, IIoT, ERP, and big data to manufacture products with high added value, such as: drywall screws, self drilling screws, and 50/100 collated screws. The new plant aims to reduce carbon emissions and is planned as a green building, which will install solar panels on the rooftop, driving new developments in Taiwan’s screw industry. The investment is expected to create 81 domestic employment opportunities.
An-Shin Food Services Co., Ltd. operates the well-known fast food chain Mos Burger, which is popular among consumers for its rice burger. The Company has ranked in the top 5% in the Corporate Governance Evaluation for many years, and also won numerous sustainability awards, such as being recognized by CommonWealth Magazine for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility, Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA), and Asia Sustainability Reporting Award (ASRA). The Company established a food testing center for the safety of consumers, and is the first and only fast food restaurant in Taiwan to obtain TAF and TFDA certifications for its food testing center. The Company works with local farmers to improve their quality of its supply chain, and engages in green procurement, reducing its impact on the environment through traceability, local ingredients, and contract farming, thus providing a better option when eating out. The Company is building a smart food factory in Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park. The factory will further improve production efficiency, optimize its supply chain, and strictly control food safety from farm to table. The food factory will use green building materials, install solar panels on the rooftop, and recycle process water, fulfilling the Company’s commitment to sustainable development while providing consumers with safe food.
Hui Da Decor Co., Ltd. has been in the business of glass wholesale and processing for over 30 years. The Company has core technologies and is expanding to AI and innovative glass processing, which is applied to building, interior design, and art creation, in hopes of transforming the traditional industry. The Company plans to recruit 43 domestic employees and invest over NT$400 million to build a plant at Taipei Port in Bali, New Taipei City. The concept of environmental sustainability is incorporated in plant construction. The plant is designed with a pitched roof and will install solar panels in the future. The plant recycles and reuses leftover materials. The Company will install smart production lines and use smart storage, grinding control, and cutting equipment, in hopes of providing consumers with more complete and comprehensive services.
