InvesTaiwan today (20th) approved the additional investment of 2 companies, including Walsin Energy Cable System Co., Ltd. under the “Action Plan for Welcoming Overseas Taiwanese Businesses to Return to Invest in Taiwan” and Fuu Yih Enterprise Co., Ltd. under the “the Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by SMEs.” At present, the three major programs for investing in Taiwan have attracted over NT$2.1514 trillion in investments from 1,413 companies, and are expected to create 148,036 domestic employment opportunities, in which the Action Plan for Welcoming Overseas Taiwanese Businesses to Return to Invest in Taiwan has attracted approximately NT$1.2194 trillion in investments from 299 Taiwanese businesses and created 87,039 domestic employment opportunities; the Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by SMEs has attracted approximately NT$436.4 billion in investments from 939 SMEs and created 34,925 domestic employment opportunities; the applications of 18 companies are still pending review.
Accelerating the development of the offshore wind power industry is extremely important to achieving the energy transition policy and achieving net zero emissions by 2050. Submarine cables connect offshore wind farms to land cables and are the lifeline of the offshore wind power industry. In response to future demand from the submarine cable market, Walsin Energy Cable System Co., Ltd. decided to invest over NT$10 billion in a smart submarine cable plant at Port of Kaohsiung, and will obtain submarine cable technology authorization and services from the Swedish company NKT HV Cables AB, one of the three major submarine cable manufacturers in Europe. The company plans to hire over a hundred domestic employees to localize the wind power industry, and aims to be geared towards global technological trends. The new plant will have a green belt with solar power generation facilities, and will use highly efficient equipment in hopes of further lowering carbon emissions.
Fuu Yih Enterprise Co., Ltd. mainly produces engines/hybrid garbage trucks, water trucks, and sweeper trucks. Its main customers are environmental protection departments of county/city governments. In response to the policy of electric, low-carbon transportation tools, Fuu Yih Enterprise Co., Ltd. plans to hire 3 domestic employees and invest over NT$180 million to build a new plant in Taiping District, Taichung City. The new plant will have LIMS battery testing and management platform and use automated welding equipment. The company will continue to develop and manufacture special vehicles and improve its production efficiency. Furthermore, the new plant will have solar power facilities and use energy-efficient lamps, in hopes of protecting the environment while enhancing the company’s competitiveness.
