To deepen economic and trade cooperation with friendly nations, the Bureau of Industrial Parks (BIPs) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) organized a delegation of 16 enterprises from the parks to participate in the "Thailand Manufacturing Expo 2024." The delegation also held business talks with the Thai-Taiwan Business Association (TTBA) and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) to not only establish bilateral economic and trade partnerships but also create more business opportunities for enterprises on both sides.
The Deputy Director General of BIPs, Mr. Liu Chi-Chuan, said that this mission aimed not only to deepen business matchmaking with Thai enterprises but also to visit the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), Amata Industrial Park, the largest industrial park in Thailand, the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), and Taiwanese-invested companies in Thailand such as Taiflex Scientific Co., LTD. and TaiDa Electronic Co., LTD. (the subsidiary of Delta Electronics).
The delegation sought to gain an in-depth understanding of the local investment environment and grasp the operating models and development potential of the country's industrial parks. They would serve as a reference for the global layout of Taiwan's advantageous industry supply chain, helping enterprises in the parks expand into new southbound markets and implementing the core concepts of the MOEA's new policies, thereby enhancing the crucial role and influence of Taiwan's industry.
The highlight of this trip was participating in the "Thailand Manufacturing Expo 2024," the largest international industrial manufacturing exhibition in Southeast Asia, with a focus on automotive parts, The 2023 exhibition saw participation from over 1,300 businesses from 46 countries. Concurrently, 14 forums on topics such as electric vehicles, automation, smart molds, and robotics were held, attracting a total of 92,725 buyers from 68 countries.
The BIPs stated that besides assisting enterprises in the parks in exhibiting, the Bureau also arranged business negotiations with local Thai companies based on the exhibitors' marketing needs. The bureau facilitated connections with 26 local Thai companies and concluded onsite order negotiations worth NTD6 million. Furthermore, to promote bilateral economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand, achieving mutual benefit, this event also witnesses the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the "Metal Industries Research & Development Centre" of Taiwan and the "Thai-Taiwan Business Association" under the joint witness of the BIPs and the Taiwan representatives Office in Thailand. The MOU covers topics such as industrial technology exchange, international talent cultivation, and the establishment of international marketing channels. This will promote bilateral industrial exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand, bringing Taiwanese companies closer to target markets and effectively implementing the" MIT upgrade" strategy.
