Premier Cho Jung-tai committed the government to offer direct support and service to assist micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises.
Cho attended the launch of the Ministry of Economic Affairs micro-, small and medium-sized enterprise diversified revitalization and development plan Jan. 14 in Taipei City. Since last May, an Executive Yuan administrative team spent over seven months devising strategies to accelerate national development, which would be implemented this year, the premier said. The initiative has a budget of NT$11.6 billion (US$ 350 million) for 2025.
The central government allotted 2025 budget for a blueprint to facilitate smaller scale companies to fulfill digital and net-zero transition. Discounted loans, taxes and credit guarantee schemes will be available to MSMEs, together with access to an MOEA hotline for direct assistance.
The number of micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises exceeded 1.67 million in 2023, with over 9.16 million employees, Cho said. He added that components manufactured by these companies play a critical role in international industry supply chains.
Cho noted that President Lai Ching-te considers it vital to advance traditional industries as well as the micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises that are the basis for supporting high-technology development in Taiwan.
MOEA Deputy Minister Ho Chin-tsang stated that micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises require more diverse support in the face of global competition.
