At the Cabinet's weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) briefing on the development of smart technologies for disaster prevention and their export to countries under Taiwan's New Southbound Policy. The premier said that exporting these technologies, along with Taiwan's experience, resources and expertise in disaster management, can not only deepen talent exchanges and cooperation with New Southbound countries, but also effectively enhance regional disaster warning capabilities.
Taiwan and its southern neighbors face similar threats from natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes, the premier said. However, by employing updated disaster management methods and technologies, alongside more unified action strategies, they can work together to save more precious lives. To this end, Premier Cho directed the NSTC to continue deepening and expanding cross-border collaboration opportunities, building on existing progress and enabling Taiwan's smart disaster prevention technologies to make a greater global impact.
