At the Cabinet's weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a Ministry of Labor (MOL) report on advancing comprehensive occupational safety and zero tolerance for workplace bullying. With the meeting coinciding with Labor Day, the premier, together with the heads of all ministries and agencies, extended their deepest respect and gratitude to Taiwan's labor force.
Premier Cho highlighted that the nation's labor force is the source of its productivity, as well as the key driver of economic development. Furthermore, the Occupational Safety and Health Act is the primary legislation ensuring the health and safety of workers. To align with both global development trends and local industry conditions, the MOL is actively seeking to update the law, aiming to strengthen hazard prevention, enhance contractor oversight, prevent workplace bullying and increase maximum penalty amounts. The MOL's proposed amendments would reinforce workplace safety responsibilities and foster friendlier working environments.
