The Ten Major AI Infrastructure Projects specifically included silicon photonics, quantum technology, and AI robots, which are core technologies related to the long-term development of AI, as its priorities for developing the key technologies required for AI and to enhance Taiwan’s competitiveness in AI.
Silicon photonics technology improves data transmission efficiency by using light to replace copper for data transmission. This strengthens the resilience of the semiconductor packaging industry and also secures its global leadership. Quantum technology is a new computing architecture that is expected to break through the bottleneck of traditional computing.AI robots refer to the introduction of smart service robots into everyday life and manufacturing scenarios based on the solid foundation of Taiwan's ICT supply chain, driving industrial transformation and upgrading.
The priorities for the three key technologies are as follows:
Silicon photonics: Encourage the R&D of advanced silicon photonics technologies, obtain proprietary key technologies, and establish measurement laboratories and pilot production lines to lower the barrier for small and medium-sized enterprises to verify their products, accelerating the introduction of silicon photonics products into the international market. 
Quantum technology: Integrate the capabilities of industry, academia, and research teams to accelerate the development of key technologies for quantum computers and quantum communication hardware and software, and establish a national quantum technology R&D laboratory to provide a platform for the industry to test its products and cultivate talent in the field of quantum technology.
AI robots: Build a components supply chain, create industrial clusters, strengthen the robotics industry chain, and implement demonstration projects that meet the needs of the catering, hotel, healthcare, logistics inspection, and commercial services industries, so as to popularize the application of AI service robots.
Expected benefits:
Silicon photonics: Enable Taiwan's silicon photonics products to more quickly enter the international market, enhance silicon photonics R&D capabilities and international competitiveness, and create a complete ecosystem in the silicon photonics industry.
Quantum technology: Accelerate the R&D of key quantum technologies and system integration, and build Taiwan's local quantum computing and industrial capabilities.
AI robots: Develop an AI robotics industry ecosystem, achieve technology self-reliance, popularize AI robots in society, and develop Taiwan into a global AI robotics supply chain hub.
