InvesTaiwan today (18) approved additional investments in Taiwan by 3 companies, including Dragon Steel Corporation under the Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by Domestic Corporations, and Aitafi Foods Co., Ltd. and Zillion Co., Ltd. under the Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by SMEs. At present, the three major programs for investing in Taiwan has attracted approximately NT$2.8085 trillion in investments from 1,820 companies, and will create over 170 thousand domestic employment opportunities. A total of 236 domestic corporations invested approximately NT$663.9 billion under the Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by Domestic Corporations, and created 30,548 employment opportunities. The Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by SMEs has attracted 1,220 SMEs to invest a total of approximately NT$627.5 billion, and created 42,737 employment opportunities. The applications of 18 companies are currently pending review.
Dragon Steel Corporation is a subsidiary of China Steel Corporation. It is an integrated steel plant in Taiwan with both an electric arc furnace and blast furnace. It mainly produces general carbon steel, structural steel, high-strength low-alloy steel, H-beams, and narrow plates. In response to the global trend of carbon reduction and the green supply chain requirements of customers around the world, Dragon Steel plans to invest approximately NT$17.88 billion in its Taichung Longjing plant to optimize its smart blast furnace process and build a water reclamation plant. This investment is expected to create 13 domestic employment opportunities. This investment will adopt an AI platform to develop automatic monitoring, early warning, diagnosis, and decision-making mechanisms, improve productivity and operational safety, and implement carbon reduction by using recycled water and solar power generation facilities, which will digitalize and make the manufacturing process smarter. The investment is expected to enhance smart manufacturing and green transformation capabilities of the domestic steel industry, strengthen the resilience of steel supply, and enhance the industry’s international competitiveness.
Aitafi Foods Co., Ltd. was established in Tainan and owns a variety of dessert brands, including Tanuki Koji, Emporer Moon Cake, Mr. Crocodile Cookies, MOGU KABI, and Camellia House, showing its strong capabilities to develop in the baking market. Due to the expansion of its operations, Aitafi Foods plans to add a smart production line at its Yongkang plant in Tainan, and will adopt an AI data processing platform and an AI visual recognition system to optimize production management and quality inspection processes. It will also install solar power generation equipment to implement energy conservation, carbon reduction, and green manufacturing. The company will invest approximately NT$350 million and is expected to create 20 domestic job opportunities, improve product quality and productivity, and lay the foundation for expanding into the international market.
Zillion Co., Ltd. specializes in providing technical support services to the semiconductor industry, and focuses on system integration, equipment assembly and calibration, after-sales maintenance, and replacement of key consumables for products such as exhaust gas treatment equipment and mixing systems. Zillion plans to invest NT$340 million to build two plants in Rende District, Tainan City to expand its local production capacity and engineering service capabilities. The company plans to hire eight additional local employees. The new plants will utilize AI modules to improve the accuracy of the gas supply system, and will also install solar power generation facilities to actively support the transition to net zero emissions. This investment will help Zillion expand its operations and improve its core technologies, further strengthening its local supply capabilities for key semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
