Major Japanese polishing manufacturer Fujibo's Taiwan branch held a groundbreaking ceremony for the group's new plant located in Tainan Science Park on the morning of July 4th. Tainan is currently one of Fujibo's manufacturing bases for polishing pads for the semiconductor and photoelectric industries. The total amount of investment is estimated to be NT$500 million (including NT$300 million in capital investment and new equipment purchase).
Fujibo was founded in 1896; its main operations include polishing materials (pads) and chemicals. Fujibo's investments in Taiwan encompass primarily of materials for polishing use that can be used for semiconductors and LCD boards. Through this investment project, the company aims to establish a R&D and custom polishing pads manufacturing base in Tainan Science Park, which can help boost the competitiveness of Taiwan's semiconductors and LCD industries.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs Investment Service Center, in joint effort with Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau of Management, Tainan City Government, and the MOEA Industrial Development Bureau, is recruiting enterprises and providing them the assistance they require, such as information regarding domestic technician salaries, tax rates for key raw materials, and employment of local electricians. At the same time, the MOEA also assisted in looking for suitable places to place the plant, acquiring the land, and applying for permits. After much effort, Fujibo finally placed its new plant in Tainan Science Park, where it can easily provide semiconductor giants such as TSMC and UMC with customized polishing pads while boosting industry competitiveness and employee quality.
To foster a favorable business and investment environment and to encourage investment, the Executive Yuan founded the Ministry of Economic Affairs InvesTaiwan Service Center in October 2016 as a one-stop window for investors and businesses.
