A Japanese firm fulfills the letter of interest it signed with the MOEA at the 2013 Business Alliance Conference by launching its first business venture in Taiwan this year. ZENSHO HOLDINGS CO., LTD, Japan's largest restaurant conglomerate, has always upheld their enterprise philosophy of "eradicating hunger and poverty from the world." This insistence on food safety and customer confidence has become deeply rooted in their brand image. The group greatly values Taiwan's restaurant industry, and has invested massive capital to the amount of 100 million NTD for the establishment of Zensho Taiwan, Ltd. The sole purpose of this venture is to cultivate the Taiwanese restaurant market. Sukiya's long-awaited first store in Taiwan, scheduled to open on July 10, will be a formidable player on the already highly competitive gourmet scene. Zensho's first Taiwanese venture is the already locally well-known Sukiya, one of Zensho's restaurant chains with a consumer-friendly mid to low price range. Sukiya's specialty dish is the Japanese national cuisine of "gy?don," its first chain store will be located in the bustling area near Guting MRT Station. Zensho hopes to eventually open 100 Sukiya branches in Taiwan, and plans to introduce other restaurant brands to the Taiwanese market, including conveyor-belt sushi. In order to better facilitate Japanese enterprise operations in Taiwan, the MOEA Department of Investment Services has pushed for the establishment of the Invest Taiwan Service Center (ITSC). ITSC services include information on the Taiwanese market and the establishment of businesses, also assistance in locating compatible central kitchen facilities, store locations, and sourcing necessary materials. Information can also be found regarding applicable rules and regulations as well as taxes and duties on imported goods. The center is also dedicated to assisting investors in solving a variety of local issues, such as possible electricity shortage and store front motorcycle parking. ITSC's mission is to assist Japanese firms to open their businesses on schedule, and to provide all necessary services to ensure safe and smooth business operations
